Oodles
of Ideas
I love
sharing my ideas with others. This page is my special place to share
some
of the ideas I have dreamed up pertaining to making books, and teaching children
to read. This section will be added to on a regular basis.
What's
the BIG Idea?
Children
with a natural curiosity about books should be encouraged to look at them, and
even roll play with them. Younger children sometimes have a tougher time learning
how to handle books. One way that you can protect your books is
to cover the
pages in clear contact paper, or laminate them.
Another
idea is to photocopy the pages (for personal use only) and cover the pages with
clear sheet protectors and place in a 3 ring binder. This method is easy to change
out, and they can be stored in a smaller space. I use the clear
view binders
and I copy off a colored cover that slips into the binding and
front of the
notebook so I can see at a glance what I have.
What do I do with all that paper?
Oh!
Don't throw away all your scraps of computer or construction paper. Cut
the
pieces into small squares and staple together down one side.
Teachers:
A great center idea is to have a basket of pre-made blank books available for
the kids to practice writing their name or writing the alphabet!
